As of January 28th, Richard and I have collectively spent over 10,000 hours building MOTH, from a spark of an idea to where we are today, on the verge of something that feels extraordinary. This journey, from initial conversations and sketches to late-night strategy sessions, has reinforced one clear truth: being a founder isn't about a single decision; it’s about choosing every day to build something that doesn't yet exist.
Along the way, we’ve received countless opinions, examples of success, cautionary tales, and insights from VCs, advisors, friends, and family. We love it. Every conversation has allowed us to be that much more deliberate about what we're building, how we're building it, and why we're building it. But one thing has remained constant: our vision for MOTH. We want it to be different. Different in the way we uplift our communities, share our friends stories, the way we operate, and the way we interact with our partners. We’ve been building with intention, focused on creating a strong sense of community, and soon, we’ll be showing you exactly what that means.
We're excited to announce that the first stage of our website is complete, our launch video is in production, and our first campaign, Indisposable, is already underway. We’ve also begun building our community by connecting with writers worldwide, inviting them to contribute to MOTH in their own ways. The response has been incredible, and we’re excited to welcome even more people to this movement.
MOTH will begin rolling out in March. And when we do, we won’t just be launching a platform, we'll be starting a conversation centered around a few core questions:
What does it mean to belong?
How do people define and find community?
What will it take to rebuild trust in strangers?
What role do local organizations play in fostering community?
What would the world look like if we prioritized connection over profit?
These are just a few of the questions that drive us. These are the conversations we want to have with you.
As we prepare for our rollout, we want to know: where do you feel at home in your community? Do you know of any businesses, social groups, or organizations in your city doing intentional work to bring people together? Let us know. We’d love to connect, collaborate, and amplify their story.
Stay tuned. We’re almost there.
