In our last newsletter, we talked about why MOTH exists: the loneliness epidemic, the need for belonging, and the importance of community. We shared the heart of our mission: to create a world where everyone belongs.
Our mission is only as strong as the actions it inspires, and a vision only manifests when it’s paired with a plan. This issue of the newsletter is about how. How will MOTH operate? How will we address the challenges of loneliness and build something that truly makes a difference?
At MOTH, we believe that belonging isn’t just found—it’s built. It’s built in the spaces where people gather, in the stories we share, and in the tools we use to uplift those stories. We’ve designed MOTH to serve across three key areas, each with the power to connect people, businesses, and change-makers to something larger than themselves.

Our Offerings
Community Discovery Tool
Loneliness often stems from not knowing where to go or how to connect with others. MOTH aims to overcome those obstacles by being your personal guide to the places and experiences that resonate with you. Imagine discovering a cozy café that fits your vibe on a rainy afternoon, finding a local poetry night that sparks your creativity, or stumbling upon a yoga class in a park that brings peace to your weekend. MOTH isn’t just about locating venues—it’s about you feeling seen, comfortable, and connected wherever you go.
Currently, discovery tools like Yelp or Google Maps focus on logistics: “What’s nearby?” or “Where’s the highest-rated place?” MOTH has a different approach. We focus on mood and personality, understanding that what you’re looking for isn’t always a place, but a feeling.
Through our mood-based filters and curated recommendations, we can help you find the spaces and events that align with your interests and needs, transforming your city into a community.
Marketing Solution and Events Program for Local Businesses
We believe local businesses are more than just places of transaction—they are their own community with stories, history, lessons, and culture. We all know this in theory, but it can be a struggle for many businesses to stand out in a crowded digital landscape. MOTH offers these businesses a new way to showcase not just their products, but who they truly are. By helping customers connect emotionally with these businesses, we ensure their stories are told and their identities are known, creating deeper, more meaningful relationships with their communities.
Our platform provides businesses:
Storytelling Profiles: Highlighting their journey, people, values, and offerings.
Events Programming: Helping businesses organize and promote their own gatherings—such as dinner clubs, trivia nights, and live performances—or collaborate with us through 'MOTH Signature Programming' to attract and engage customers.
Tailored Marketing: Assisting businesses as they attract the patrons who resonate most with their spaces, building relationships that extend beyond a single transaction.
Unlike traditional marketing platforms, we don't just want to show storefronts and products to people. We want to strengthen neighborhoods, boost local economies, and reestablish small businesses as the heart of our communities.
Amplifying Change-Makers and Aligned Work
Belonging isn’t just built by spaces. We believe it’s driven by the people, organizations, and movements that work tirelessly to foster connection and unity. We want to be a platform where these efforts are not only shared, but celebrated to create a ripple effect that inspires action and collaboration.
We want to serve as a thought-convening platform for researchers, community leaders, organizations, and creatives who are reimagining what it means to belong. Whether through interviews, sharing data, writing articles, or promoting their initiatives, we'll provide a stage for these change-makers to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and inspire others to join the cause.
The need for belonging is universal, and it’s being addressed in many different ways. From community art projects, to groundbreaking mental health studies, to local initiatives that bring neighbors together, each of them deserve to be celebrated. By spotlighting these efforts, we hope to turn our pursuit of belonging into a shared mission that empowers individuals and organizations to make meaningful, lasting change.
A Note from the CEO
The holiday season is often painted as a time of joy, connection, and celebration. But for many, it can also be a stark reminder of disconnection, loss, and loneliness. Whether it’s being far from family, missing loved ones, or feeling out of place in festive spaces, the holidays can amplify that ache of isolation.
The truth is, belonging isn't always about the grand gestures—it’s about the small, meaningful connections that remind us we’re not alone. A smile from a stranger, a shared moment with a colleague, or simply being seen and welcomed at a local café can transform how we feel.
This season, I encourage you to reach out to the friends you haven’t spoken to in a while, the neighbor who could use some company, or even the person you’ve seen around, but haven't met yet. I also encourage you to reach out if you need someone to talk to over the holiday season. Feel free to email me if you'd just like to chat and get your mind off of something.
