Updated: Mar 16

We’re so excited to share the first edition of The Moth Company's (MOTH) newsletter. Moving forward, on the first Sunday of the month, we'll be providing a closer look at what we’ve been working on and the exciting journey ahead. Our vision at MOTH is ambitious: to create a world where acceptance transcends boundaries, authenticity is celebrated, and everyone belongs. Loneliness and disconnection have reached epidemic levels in modern society, and we believe we can change that by creating and uplifting spaces that inspire people to come together.

The MOTH platform isn’t just about connecting people; it’s about transforming communities. It’s about fostering environments where individuals feel seen, understood, and truly part of something bigger. We want to build a future where everyone’s story is celebrated and valued.

At MOTH, our motto is “You belong here”—whether you’re a supporter, a future partner, or a member of the community, your involvement and belief in our mission help us shape a more accepting and authentic world.

This is your story too.

With your support, we are well on our way to realizing this vision.

You belong here,

Temi Onayemi

Note from the CEO

Last week, I sat in a small, gritty coffee shop—the kind where the barista knows your order and the tables have seen better days. I was just waiting on a breakfast sandwich when a guy walked in wearing a shirt that stopped me mid-sip. Bold image, jagged lines. It felt like it had a story.

I thought about MOTH—the community we’re trying to build, where people start talking again, no pretenses. I debated whether to say anything. Maybe it’s better not to.

But then, being my impulsive self, I leaned in. “Cool shirt. Where’s it from?”

“Thanks,” he said, smiling. “It’s from my shop down the street. We’ve been around for 12 years now.”

We got to talking. He mentioned a 12-year anniversary party on October 12th and how important it was to him to connect with the community and create something that lasts. It was exactly what I needed to hear. His name was Ky, “like the key to a door,” and I think he embodies everything we’re hoping to accomplish with MOTH. I can't wait to continue our conversation.

I left that shop with a sandwich, an invitation, and a reminder that I want to share with each of you: start the conversation.

You never know where it’ll take you.
